This October, Holden Buckner was highlighted in the monthly Volunteer Spotlight for his contributions to Pug Rescue of Austin. Helping animals escape kill shelters and find their forever homes is an important passion of Holden’s. He believes that all animals deserve love, attention, and a safe home. Using his 1970 Bellanca Viking airplane, he has helped more than a dozen pugs escape kill shelters and get the proper medical attention they require.
The following video highlights the great work Pug Rescue of Austin does. Volunteers, fosters, and adopters discuss PRA and how they are helping abused and neglected pugs from all over address their unique health issues, improve their quality and length of life, and find the right homes.
A lot of people don’t realize that Pug face a lot of health problems due to the horrible effects of inbreeding. They have troubles breathing due to their short snout, and they often require more medical attention than other breeds. Luckily, PRA doesn’t discriminate based on age or medical condition, and 98% of their funds go towards medical/veterinary expenses for these animals. If you would like to make a donation, please click here. They are a volunteer based organization with no paid staff, so they rely solely on these donations and fundraisers.
